**If you love taking photos, but want to understand how to take complete control of your camera to achieve the photos in your mind’s eye, then look no further. This  photography workshop - lead by professional travel and landscape photographer Matthew Williams-Ellis - will teach you all you need to know!**

During the workshop you will learn the fundamentals of photography through ‘in the field’ tutorials, allowing you to practise and experiment with newly learned techniques while photographing some of London’s most iconic locations.

At the same time as learning the technical side of photography, we will talk a lot about the thought process of creating (not just taking) photos. Matthew will offer tips on composition, guide your photographic eye and help you develop a proactive photography mindset, ensuring you can apply your new found skills to any given situation when photographing in the future.

**Itinerary**

- **Session one:** Head to The London Eye, Leake Street Graffiti Tunnels and South Bank area, where we will cover the basics of ISO, aperture, shutter speed, shooting modes and focusing. Once you are comfortable with this, we will start to experiment with slow shutter speeds while photographing interesting subjects such as the Thames, markets, buskers and South Bank’s iconic skate park.
- **Session two:** After a break to refuel, we will discuss photographic story-telling and compositional ideas. The day unfortunately has to come to an end, with a sunset and blue hour/night shoot over-looking the Thames at somewhere such as Millennium Bridge, ensuring you return home with a variety of images to be proud of.
Please note: No two days are exactly the same, as photography is all about the light. Some subjects suit cloudy days and others suit sunny days. We will shoot wherever the conditions are best!

- Matthew Williams-Ellis is a professional travel and landscape photographer who has been awarded in Travel Photographer of the Year, and been a finalist on many other occasions. He carries out commissions for the travel industry, leads photography holidays and workshops and runs a youtube channel called Photo Escapes.

Only clue to whether this course would be worth it were the reviews, so here is mine.
You'll find Matt to be very chilled and smiley.  Initially I thought he was another student.  
There were only 4 students on my course, which meant there was plenty 1-2-1.  His manner provides a calm confidence, and he knows his way around all the main types of camera, allowing you to achieve excellent effects.
I noticed that he was quick to find that opportunity, and that inspired us all to look for that shot.
It was a good evening with cloudy sunshine, so plenty dramatic light and sky.  
5.5hours was plenty time, with a break at a Pret in the middle.  
Don't be afraid to take loads of photos, play with Matt's ideas and find that you understand the components very quickly.
This course will give you the opportunity and confidence to move away from auto, portrait or landscape modes.
Well worth it for the 1-2-1 time from someone who is clearly accomplished.

But Matthew helped by asking us to take pictures that show depth, interest and mood, in order to tell a story. London at night is magical and it was a great way to end, learning how to use my camera to take a night shot and the best time is in the blue hour. Both were excellent, the classes were relatively small and Matthew managed to get around everybody and made sure we understood the points he was making. It would be fair to say that the class was mixed ability but this did not detract from the session. Regardless of what level you are at Matthew gave everybody something to work on. I would happily recommend Matthews classes to other  photographers.

Very attentive and knowledgeable in his field. 
He never tells you how you MUST shoot, but advises how he would shoot the shot and explains competently how you can adjust that to your own personal style. 

Teaches in a way that is suitable for all learning types and never makes you feel silly For asking a question and ensures he shares the relevant knowledge with the whole group of the questions that might help us all which is refreshing! 
Brings his Camera  to demonstrate how settings work with Visual representation on the back of his Camera  via the exposure preview option he has. 

I would 100% recomend Matthew to anyone wanting to learn more in photography and I fully intend on booking onto his other course!

I learnt a lot about my camera within the 3hrs of the workshop.  I was also happy with some of my first ever photos taken in AV mode.   It was also nice to be among others who like photography.  The workshop I attended had people at different levels and Matthew catered for all.  I would attend again.
